Faculty Members of the
Global Environmental Change Research Group
The Global Environmental Research Group was initiated in 2001 as a
result of funding provided by The University of Tennessee ("President's
Initiative"). A primary mission is to improve interdisciplinary research
across departments at The University of Tennessee and to provide
students opportunities for research on critical problems of global
environmental change. Faculty from three departments are currently
participating: Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Earth and Planetary
Sciences, and Geography. Research is being undertaken on land and at
sea, internationally (Bahamas, Costa Rica, USA, Norway, and Dominican
Republic), as well as regionally and more locally in Tennessee.
Involvement of K-12 teachers and other forms of public outreach are also
used to communicate the results of our work, as well as to address the
need for better communication of global change research to the general
public.
